D.R.E.A.M.S. (Digital Rehabilitation Environment Altering Medical System)

Primary Participant:

Marko Suvajdzic

During the semester of scholar in residence program, I will work closely with the patients and the College of Medicine research team at the intensive care unit at the UF Shands hospital. Our work will focus on a research that has for the goal to develop a novel, video game based, delirium prevention system. Our a priori hypothesis is that an interactive digital delirium prevention system would be able to lower the occurrence of delirium using a combination of information sources including changes in activity levels, reflexes, sleep quality, as well as known risk factors such as old age, illness severity, and preexisting cognitive dysfunction. The expected long term outcome of this research is a new cost-effective system to address the prevention of delirium in ICU patients.
